Construite sur la technologie Spiral X exclusive à Shimano, la canne ASQUITH SPEY utilise une construction à trois couches, composée d'une couche centrale, d'une couche longitudinale intermédiaire et d'une couche extérieure en fibre à axe inversé. Cette architecture de blank avancée augmente la rigidité sans ajouter de poids, réduit l'ovalisation sous charge et assure une transmission de puissance pratiquement instantanée, que ce soit pour générer une vitesse de ligne élevée pendant le lancer ou pour maintenir le contrôle lors du combat avec des poissons puissants. Des composants haut de gamme améliorent encore les performances. Les anneaux serpentiformes Recoil en titane SiC, associés aux anneaux de départ en titane SiC, réduisent le poids, améliorent la gestion de la ligne et augmentent la durabilité dans les environnements exigeants. Une poignée en liège de qualité Flor assure une prise en main sûre et confortable, tandis qu'un porte-moulinet en aluminium personnalisé avec insert CI4+ garantit solidité, équilibre et fiabilité à long terme. Shimano’s proprietary Spiral X technology utilizes triple layer construction consisting of an oblique fiber core layer, a longitudinal middle layer, and a reverse-oblique fiber outer layer.
